8. The device uses a Geiger counter, which is an ionizing radiation detector capable of measuring beta rays, gamma rays and x-rays. The working principle is based on the ionizing properties of radiation in the gas. It consists of an ionization chamber or a small room that acts as a detector. When a certain voltage is applied to the detector, the radiation ionizes the gas, producing a pair of ions for each ionization event. This leads to the amplification of the ionization signal, which is then recorded by the electronic device to measure the amount of radiation per unit time.
